National Flood Insurance Act of 1968 - This act created the National Flood Insurance Program, providing affordable flood insurance on a voluntary basis to willing purchasers. NFIA is one of three Acts under which the NFIP is currently administered, along with the Flood Disaster Protection Act of 1973 and the National Flood Insurance Reform Act of 1994.
